October 11 Second Club

October 11 Second Club from trent correy on Vimeo.

This is my entry for the October 11 Second Club. When I heard the audio at the beginning of the month, I knew I had to do it! I had just come off a long crunch at Disney on "Frozen", and hadn't done any 2D animation for over a year. I had recently finished re-reading "The Animation Survival Kit" and I was dying to pick up a pencil and try out some of the techniques. I made a conscious decision last year, that I wanted to commit myself 100% to learning CG while at Disney, and so I put my drawing aside.

I had so much fun doing this, I was constantly struggling and frustrated with myself, but at the same time, it was very relaxing and therapeutic. I realized how different both mediums really are, but at the same time, how all the same principles still apply. One of the main reasons I did the competition was to test out ToonBoom and see what it would be like to do a 2D animation from start to finish. Overall it was a great learning experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it:)

11 Second Club- Rough Animation from trent correy on Vimeo.

Here is my rough animation, quite a few things changed in timing and spacing as I tied it down. I needed to get this done rather quickly due to time constraints and kinda refined the design along the way. Felt nice to step away from the graph editor, but at the same time, I missed it SO much!

Lastly, these are the boards I did.
Thanks for checking out the blog! Anyone headed to CTN this year, I'll be there, let me know!
